Talk AEW Podcast: Discussing Backstage Drama and a Promising New Roster

June 15th, 2021

AEW Podcast

This week on Talk AEW, we begin the show by catching up on the past two episodes of Dynamite which aired on a Friday night. We share our thoughts on the Mark Henry and Andrade joining AEW; Jungle Boy’s title shot; the ongoing feud between The Inner Circle and The Pinnacle— and why we dislike watching wrestling on Friday nights.

In our main event, we address the rumours that the Elite are arguing with each other behind closed doors. Does anyone else get the feeling that when watching Dynamite, it sometimes feels like two different wrestling promotions? Why is it that Cody Rhodes never crosses paths with The Young Bucks nor Kenny Omega? Meanwhile, Hangman Page never crosses paths with either of those factions, and AEW seems no longer interested in having him fight for the World Title. What is going on here?

Finally, ending the show is a discussion about AEW’s roster. Is it too crowded or can AEW easily pick up some new hires such as some of the talent recently released from WWE? And how should they handle who wrestles on which show once Rampage premieres?

All this and so much more!

Talk AEW Podcast: Double or Nothing 2021 More Than Lived Up to the Hype

June 1st, 2021

AEW Podcast: Double or Nothing Review

AEW hosted their first PPV with a full crowd since early 2020 and boy, it did not disappoint! After RevolutionDouble or Nothing was AEW’s second pay-per-view of 2021, and apart from a few minor hiccups, the event was bigger, better, and far more entertaining thanks to the crowd who injected a   hefty dose of high energy and of course, the talent, who all delivered a great performance.

On this episode of Talk AEW, we choose our favourite moments and biggest highlights from the event and break down every match from the opening buy-in bout between Riho and Serena Deeb to the Stadium Stampede match, which saw Chris Jericho’s Inner Circle defeat MJF’s The Pinnacle.

Expect Ricky to rant about how Kenny Omega retained his AEW Championship and rave about why he believes Jungle Boy deserves to be the next champion! Mariko shares her love for Britt Baker and Shida’s match and Aaron explains why he believes Brian Cage and Hangman Adam Page stole the spotlight.

All this and more!

Talk AEW Podcast: What’s Next for Darby Allin and The Inner Circle?

May 15th, 2021

This week on Talk AEW, we have plenty to talk about including the Jon Moxley match with Yuji Nagata and the use of the song “Wild Thing” by The Troggs as his entrance music. We rate the promos by Cody Rhodes and Tully Blanchard, discuss Orange Cassidy’s injury, and rant about why we think AEW did a disservice to SCU who ended a nine-year run as a tag team after losing to the Young Bucks.

In our main event, we look back at Darby Allin’s incredible reign as the TNT Champion and discuss why we think it is the best title run by anyone in AEW so far.

In our bonus segment, we break down the ongoing feud between The Inner Circle and The Pinnacle and discuss what we hope to see at the Stadium Stampede match which is scheduled for AEW’s next pay-per-view event, Double or Nothing. All this and more!

Talk AEW Podcast: Let’s Discuss Blood and Guts

May 7th, 2021

AEW Podcast

The ratings are in for this week’s AEW Dynamite proved plenty of fans were thirsty for blood. The first-ever Blood & Guts Match helped the episode become the No. 1 overall show on cable, drawing a 0.42 rating with 1.09 million fans. The episode of course culminated in The Pinnacle defeating The Inner Circle in the ultra-violent two-ringed steel cage match. MJF forced Sammy Guevara to surrender by threatening to throw Chris Jericho off the top of the cage. What happened next had the internet in an uproar.

This week on Talk AEW, Mariko, Aaron and Ricky review the hotly anticipated ten-man tag team brawl and dive deep into what happened post-match. Kicking off the show as per usual is Ricky’s rapid-fire questions! All this and more…

As always, Ricky kicks off the show with his rapid-fire questions. This week that includes a discussion on whether or not Penelope Ford is the most under-rated and under-used wrestler in the women’s division and speculation as to who Jade Cargill might hire as her manager.

Closing the show is a talk spot on the future of AEW’s many shows such as ElevationDark and Dynamiteand when and if Tony Khan will change when and where these shows air. All this and more.

Talk AEW Podcast: The 10 Most Valuable Wrestlers in AEW

April 23rd, 2021

This week AEW Dynamite featured an outstanding match between Hikaru Shida and Tay Conti as well as a stellar main event with Darby Allin and Jungle Boy. Both matches proved AEW is loaded with young talent and got us thinking who we would consider AEW’s most valuable young stars. In our main event we tackle this question and debate which ten wrestlers we think AEW should secure for the next ten years.

Kicking off the show is Ricky’s rapid-fire questions and this week we end the show with a little game of twenty questions, courtesy of Aaron Santos.

All this and more!

Talk AEW Podcast: Conspiracy Theories and Iron Mike Tyson

April 17th, 2021

AEW Podcast

The first match on AEW Dynamite this week between The Young Bucks and Pac and Rey Fenix, lasted nearly 30 minutes. It’s safe to say that since Matt and Nick Jackson just turned heels, we all knew the outcome and we all knew they weren’t losing the match. That said, it was an amazing match, worthy of a pay-per-view main event which has us asking if AEW is booking too many great matches for free on television?

Before we get to that, however, we address the storyline between The Inner Circle and The Pinnacle as well as Iron Mike Tyson. We also set aside some time to discuss how many true babyfaces AEW has in its roster and try to make sense of the main event between Darby Allin and Matt Hardy.

All that and more.

Talk AEW Podcast: The Immortal Promo, Heard Around the World

April 9th, 2021

AEW Podcast: The Inner Circle is Back in Black!

This week on Talk AEW, we review Chris Jericho’s epic promo which perfectly set up the announcement of the first-ever Blood & Guts match, to be held in Jacksonville Florida on May 5. The worst is yet to come for The Pinnacle but before we get to that event, we have plenty to discuss including the appearance of Mike Tyson and whether it was too early for the Inner Circle to bury MJF and his new faction again.

In our main event, we express our frustration in seeing both Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks constantly in main event matches and why we think it’s a bad idea for all three men to hold championship titles at the moment.

And as we do every week, Ricky kicks off the show with his rapid-fire questions. All this and more!

Talk AEW Podcast: Arcade Anarchy and the Mutiny on the Bounty

April 2nd, 2021

AEW Podcast

This week on Talk AEW, the months-long feud between Orange Cassidy, Chuck Taylor, Miro, and Kip Sabian came to a head with a balls-to-the-wall Arcade Anarchy match on AEW Dynamite— and boy do we have a lot to say about it. Spoilers, everyone on this podcast absolutely loves how the story culminated.

But before we rave about “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy, his new entrance music, or the surprise return of both Trent and Kris Statlander— we set aside some time to debate whether it was a good idea for Christian Cage to wrestle Frankie Kazarian in his first single’s match in seven years. Did Cage look exhausted and is he really that rusty in the ring or was he just putting on a show and selling a story?

And of course, we open the show with Ricky’s rapid-fire questions which this week addresses Q.T. Marshall’s double-crossing, backstabbing, and villainous turn on Cody Rhodes as well as The Inner Circles comeback and massacring of The Pinnacle live on Dynamite. All this and more!

Listen to the show on PodbeaniTunes, YouTubeSpotifyDeezerListenNotesiHeart Radio, and Pandora.
