October 13th, 2021

AEW Podcast: Thanksgiving Special!

This week on Talk AEW, we discuss the AEW’s gimmick matches, more specifically, the Casino Ladder Match, and if the rules make any logical sense. Surely, a blend between the Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank sounds like a great idea on paper, but does it work in real life?

In our main event, Ricky, Mariko, and Aaron compile a list of the best matches of 2021 so far, which is no easy task considering there have been so many. And of course, Ricky delivers his rapid-fire questions.

Get ready folks— not only does this mark our one-year anniversary special but it’s also our Thanksgiving special. Enjoy!

Talk AEW Podcast #49: Two Years of AEW Dynamite

October 2nd, 2021

AEW Podcast

It was two years ago to this day that AEW Dynamite premiered on TNT. When Dynamite premiered, it marked the first time in 18 years there was a legit competitor to Vince McMahon’s empire. And with AEW gaining momentum, the landscape of professional wrestling has certainly changed, and many would argue for the better.

This week on Talk AEW, we discuss how the show has evolved over the past 24 months and how it can still improve— but before all that, we set aside time to discuss Sammy Guevara’s shocking win of the TNT Championship against God’s favourite champion, Miro. Was it too soon for Sammy to win the title? Should it have happened a week earlier at Arthur Ashe Stadium? We’ll let you know what we think of the match and the win. All that and more!

Talk AEW #47: AEW Grand Slam Predictions

September 20th, 2021

AEW Podcast: Grand Slam Special, Part 1!

It couldn’t be a more exciting time for wrestling fans as the AEW is heading to Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York next week for two huge Grand Slam editions of Dynamite and Rampage. In addition to that, Rampage will be a two-hour show for the first time since it launched earlier this summer. And since AEW has never held a wrestling show in New York City, the hype surrounding the event is intense, to say the least!

Now that the company has unveiled all the matches, we decided to sit back and discuss what we think will happen and what we hope will happen. One thing is for sure, the two-part AEW event is nothing short of a pay-per-view caliber card. From ongoing feuds to dream matches, this is arguably the biggest television broadcast in AEW history.

Talk AEW #45: Deciding The 50 Best AEW Wrestlers

September 12th, 2021

AEW Podcast

On the heels of a monumental All Out pay-per-view, AEW hit the TNT airwaves with an explosive episode of Dynamite, followed by a stellar episode of Rampage. And this week, Talk AEW digs into both episodes by asking the tough questions on everyone’s mind including if Brian Cage has a brighter future than Powerhouse Hobbs and asking when Tony Khan should draw the line when it comes to Max Castor and MJF’s controversial promos. The gang also discusses Ruby Soho’s in-ring Dynamite debut, the end of The Dark Order and whether Ric Flair will join AEW and manage Andrade El Idolo.

In our main event, Mariko, Ricky, and Arron take on the difficult task of deciding the 50 best wrestlers in AEW. Mariko isn’t happy that Ricky placed Malakai Black in the number one spot; Arron doesn’t believe Sammy Guevara belongs on the top 10; and Ricky desperately tries to make a case to include one of his favourite wrestlers, Daniel Garcia, even if he isn’t technically All-Elite, yet. All that and more. Enjoy!

Talk AEW #45: Just How Good Was AEW All Out 2021?

September 7th, 2021

AEW Podcast: All Out 2021

This week on Talk AEW, we can’t contain our excitement as we sit down and discuss what we think is one of the greatest pay-per-view events of all time! That’s right folks, it’s clobberin’ time!

All Out 2021 delivered plenty of big surprises including the first appearance of Adam Cole, Brian Danielson, Ruby Soho, and Japanese legend, Minoru Suzuki. We discuss why we think every match on the card more than exceeded our expectations and whether the AEW roster is now too bloated. We also debate if the Chris Jericho and MJF match was the best match of the night; if it was too early for Ruby Soho to get a shot at the women’s championship belt; if Bryce Remsburg is turning heel, and so much more! There were honestly so many highlights, it is pointless listing them all. You just got to tune in and find out!

Talk AEW Podcast #42: CM Punk And The First Dance

August 21st, 2021

AEW Podcast

For the first time in almost two years, All Elite Wrestling returned to Chicago in what could be the most important episode of AEW TV since Dynamite’s debut. Labeled “The First Dance”— an obvious allusion to the Michael Jordan-produced documentary “The Last Dance”— CM Punk made his anticipated return to wrestling after seven years in retirement on Friday’s episode of Rampage. Yes, folks, the best in the world is back and we have a lot to say about it!

This week on Talk AEW, we discuss Punk’s return and what we hope to see from the former WWE champion moving forward. As always, Ricky delivers his usual rapid-fire questions and ending the show is our discussion of the ‘Five Labors of Jericho’ and why the ending left us wanting more.

Talk AEW Podcast #41: A Closer Look At AEW Rampage

August 15th, 2021

AEW Podcast

After months of hype and buildup, the first episode of AEW Rampage is in the rearview mirror, and we couldn’t be any happier with the show so far. Not only was the card was stacked with three title matches but Tony Khan made room for two big surprises— first by offering Fuego Del Sol a contract and second, with the show-closing return of Jamie Hayter as Britt Baker’s sidekick. Oh, and let’s not forget Christian Cage defeating Kenny Omega for the Impact world title!

We have plenty to discuss this week as we take a closer look at AEW’s new show and explain why we think the one-hour format is perfect for an industry notorious for overly bloated television shows. Before all that, however, we do set aside time for Ricky’s rapid-fire questions. All this and more!
