Talk AEW Podcast #61: The AEW Mixed Tag Team Matches We Want to See

January 25th, 2022

This week on Talk AEW, we start the show by discussing a few things we don’t like about AEW including the recent promos by Cody Rhodes and Dan Lambert. In our main event, Ricky, Aaron and Mariko each pick several wrestlers they would want to see in mixed tag team action along with who they think their opponents should be. All this and more.

Talk AEW Podcast #61: Upper Deck AEW Trading Cards, Powerbombs, and Comebacks!

January 16th, 2022

AEW Podcast

All Elite Wrestling is entering the world of trading cards and we couldn’t be more excited! Upper Deck’s first AEW trading card set will feature all the company’s big names and Champions as well as Rare and Iconic cards, but is it worth the price? We have questions about which wrestlers will be featured, how much it’s worth, and where to buy the cards. Meanwhile, in our main event, we discuss several wrestlers who have been missing in action over the past six months and debate who we think will make a comeback and who will get left behind. But first, we need to talk about CM Punk’s brutal match with Wardlow. With Punk’s feud with MJF intensifying with every week, the grizzled vet found himself in deep water as the big man dominated the match, overpowering and punishing Punk with his unbridled strength and a barrage of eight powerbombs, leaving Punk helpless on the mat. What did we think of this match? Tune in and find out!!

Dr. Britt Baker defending her AEW Women’s Championship against Riho; Ricky Starks of Team Taz defending his FTW Championship against Matt Sydal; and with Cody Rhodes forced to pull out of the event, Sammy Guevara beat Dustin Rhodes to become the Interim TNT Champion.

Talk AEW Podcast #58: The Best of AEW 2021

December 18th, 2021

Talk AEW Podcast

This week, Mariko, Aaron, and Ricky spend the majority of the first segment discussing the nominees for the 2021 Talk AEW Podcast Awards. We go over every category, from best promo to best match to best pay-per-view event, and everything in between. Before that, however, we begin the show gushing over how impressed we were with Hook’s in-ring debut on Rampage last week. And finally, closing off the show is a heated debate about whether or not the one-hour match between Hangman Adam Page and Brian Danielson was worth the wait. All this and more!

Talk AEW Podcast

This week on Talk AEW, we dedicate our main event to Malcolm Jacob Friedman, better known as M.J.F. Yes, folks, he’s better than you and we are here to remind you why that is. But first, Ricky’s got a ton of questions revolving around the recent episode of AEW Dynamite including why Dante Martin turned on Team Taz and what we expect from Hook’s in-ring debut again Fuego Del Sol on Rampage. All this and more.

Talk AEW Podcast #56: AEW Yearbook Special

December 5th, 2021

AEW Podcast: The AEW 2021 Yearbook

This week on the Talk AEW Podcast, we shake things up with a little segment that we like to call The AEW Yearbook Challenge. The way it works is we each come up with four categories and ask what could possibly happen to our favourite AEW talent in the future. Have you ever thought about who might one day appear as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars? Or maybe you wondered which of your favourite AEW stars will end up in Hollywood making blockbuster action movies? If these questions are the sort of thing you think about often, then this episode is just what you need. Enjoy!

Talk AEW Podcast #55: The Best AEW Promos, and the Fall of Cody Rhodes

November 28th, 2021

AEW Podcast

American Thanksgiving and professional wrestling and have gone hand-in-hand for decades and this week All Elite Wrestling celebrated the holiday with an amazing episode of Dynamite that started with MJF and CM Punk battling on the mic for just over 22 minutes and ended with a fantastic eight-man tag team main event fueled by three intensely personal rivalries! It was wild; it was crazy; and so, this week on Talk AEW, we decided to look back at the very best promos ever cut on AEW.

Also on the card, we discuss Daniel Garcia’s ceiling and why Chris Jericho is wrong about him having a square head. We also offer Dr. Britt Baker some relationship advice and debate what Tony Khan should do with the overcrowded commentary booth on Dynamite and Rampage. In addition, we try our best to narrow down the exact moment the AEW fanbase turned on Cody Rhodes and explain how Cody can fix the situation moving forward. All this and more!

Talk AEW Podcast #54: The Best AEW Heels, Past, Present and Future

November 22nd, 2021

This week on AEW Dynamite, The American Dragon Brian Danielson switched gears during a face-off with the AEW World Title Champion Hangman Adam Page, transitioning from a respected babyface into a clear, antagonizing heel. The sudden switch caught plenty of wrestling fans off guard and so we decided to dedicate this week’s episode of Talk AEW to— you guessed it— heels!

In our main event, we discuss the best heels in AEW, past, present and future, and look back at the best storylines before debating who else we think would make a good heel. Before all that, however, Aaron and Mariko answer several of Ricky’s weekly rapid-fire questions including who they would want to see the World Title next and who they want to see Dante Martin wrestle. All this and more!

Talk AEW Podcast #53: AEW Full Gear 2021 Review

November 16th, 2021

AEW Podcast

After months of buildup and storyline developments, All Elite Wrestling brought us its annual pay-per-view event Full Gear, and for the most part, it did not disappoint.

The fourth ever AEW Champion was crowned as Hangman Adam Page defeated Kenny Omega in the main event to win the AEW Championship. It was the culmination of AEW’s longest-running storyline, and a great way to end the night!

While the main event produced a new champion, perhaps the best match was that between Darby Allin and MJF which featured a good 22 minutes of non-stop action. And a close-second was the bloody brawl between CM Punk and The Mad King Eddie Kingston!

This week on Talk AEW, we review Full Gear and discuss the many highs as well as the many lows such as the terrible ten-man tag team match between American Top Team and The Inner. All that and more!
